Circular vibrating screens
Vibrating screens are the most commonly used in the industry. They are often used to separate solids from liquids. The materials fed into the machine are sent to the bottom of the screener or the orifices provided according to their masses, their sizes, or their consistencies. The following can be separated:
-heavy and light materials
-hot and cold materials
-wet and dry materials
-the final product and crude material
Vibrating screens create vibrations through several systems, as shown in full detail in the 911 Metallurgists article The Principle of Vibrating System. Among vibrating screens, the circular SWECO creates a centrifuge. Its cylindrical shape favors this type of use, thus separating more quickly.
The advantages of the circular vibrating screen are the machine’s speed and ease of use. In addition, the rigidity of the device, due to its conical shape, makes it durable. Circular vibrating screens also take up little space because of their fixed bases. This is also the case for static screeners.
Static screens
Even though the IPEC static strainer has the same rigid base as the circular vibrating screen, it is differentiated by the absence of vibration and other movements in the unit. It is a non-motorized sieve with a side dewatering system that separates solids and liquids.
Often used to filter industrial water, it is one of the least expensive types. It consists of curved screens allowing for simple and continuous extractions without any risk of backing up. For example, it can be used in breweries or for processing fruits and vegetables.
Centrifugal screens
More similar to the circular sieve but without vibration, the KASON centrifugal screen adds the power of a centrifuge. It consists of several helical vanes that accelerate the delivery of materials through the openings. As there is no contact between the pallets and the grid, separation is silent.
Rectangular screens
Unlike all the previous industrial sieves, this screen binds together a set of several sieving systems. It is a rectangular sieve with flat surface. This device is the link between circular, elliptical, and reciprocating systems, producing the same sort of particles of very small sizes.
